At a glance: Medley April 2026 featured a new Police K-9 unit and a Council discussion of proposed food truck standards for gatherings.
A new partner for local policing
The April 6 Town Council agenda included a presentation on the newly established Medley Police K-9 unit. K-9 teams can help officers with specialized work and community demonstrations, while also giving children a welcoming way to meet the people behind the badge. The agenda identifies the presentation; residents can consult the meeting record for additional details about the unit and its public appearances.
Medley maintains its own Police Department. Fire and emergency medical response are provided by Miami-Dade County through Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. That distinction helps residents know which agency handles each part of public safety.
Clearer expectations for food truck gatherings
The April agenda also listed a first reading of proposed operating standards for food trucks. The proposal addressed gatherings of four or more trucks, with permit, parking and sanitation requirements. A first reading is an early step in the public process, not a final rule. Local food vendors and event organizers should check the current Town code before planning an event.
Good rules can help a lively event feel easy for everyone: vendors know what to expect, neighbors know how traffic will work, and families can focus on enjoying a meal together.
A playoff run worth celebrating
Miami Springs Senior High’s baseball team won its district championship in April and kept advancing through the playoffs. The April 27 local report covered the team’s win over St. Brendan and next playoff step. It was a proud stretch for the players, coaches and families who show up for every inning. Medley’s April agenda separately listed a presentation about its Police K-9 unit; that public meeting item is not a crime or incident report.
