At a glance: Medley June 2026 honored local police professionals and put practical safety concerns on the Council agenda, including fire service coordination, road work and flooding along South River Drive.
Recognizing the people who serve
At its June 1 meeting, the Town Council agenda listed awards for Police Officer of the Year, Civilian Employee of the Year, Community Impact, a major arrest, and the Police Explorers. Recognition is a small but meaningful way to thank officers and civilian staff whose work often happens quietly and under pressure.
The Town has its own Police Department. Fire and EMS service comes from Miami-Dade County. The June agenda listed a county fire service consent agreement for property at 7777 NW 72nd Avenue, along with related security system and fire alarm agreements. Agenda listings show what was presented for consideration; the minutes provide the official result.
Infrastructure protects daily life
Other June agenda items included a water distribution audit, road paving and resurfacing, and a Council request to discuss flooding on South River Drive. Flooding is more than a map concern. It affects commutes, business deliveries and the ability of first responders to move safely.
Families can also make use of Town recreation and youth opportunities, including soccer registration and a Sports Contribution Grant. Availability and eligibility may change, so check the Town’s current Social Services notices before applying.
