MIAMI — September 22, 2025 – The Elena A. Miranda Foundation donation to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital was recognized during a reception on September 17 at the Kenneth C. Griffin Surgical Tower. As a result of the gift, a section of the hospital lobby was officially named the “Elena A. Miranda Marketplace.”
This generous $500,000 contribution will directly benefit the Patient Assistance Fund, which provides financial support to families whose children face life-threatening medical conditions. Moreover, it ensures that those who cannot access public funding or afford treatment on their own still receive lifesaving care.
The Mission Behind the Elena A. Miranda Foundation
The Elena A. Miranda Foundation was established in 2023 by Carlos Fausto Miranda, principal of Fausto Commercial, in memory of his late sister Elena. Since its inception, the foundation’s mission has been clear: to raise funds so that children in crisis can access medical care regardless of financial barriers.
Unlike many nonprofits, the foundation operates differently. In fact, 100% of donations go directly to patient care, while administrative expenses are fully covered by private donors. Therefore, every contribution has a direct and immediate impact.
“Because public funding is scarce, it’s vital that every dollar that enters the foundation goes into the hospital’s patient assistance fund to be used for life-saving medical treatment,” said Miranda.
