This quaint village is perfect for a quite day of shopping.  Located a few miles from the mainland just south of Miami Beach, Key Biscayne is a town in Miami-Dade County and on the island of Key Biscayne. It has a population of nearly 13,000 and covers an area of 1.4 sq miles. This quiet community is encompassed by nature and is yet just minutes from all of what downtown Miami and the surrounding areas have to offer. With some adjustments over the years The Island Shop has become the premier independent department store. They sell the finest brands in tableware, baby and children’s goods, bed linens, fragrances, candles, table linens, house wares and gifts. The Island Shop has just about everything. They even have a printing section and you can get custom invitations.  Key Colony Plaza, Key Biscayne Galeria, Key Biscayne Shopping Center and Lesplande Mall at Key Biscayne are some of the popular shopping destinations for locals and visitors alike.  While in Key Biscayne, be sure to visit Bill Baggs State Park, the home of a historic lighthouse built in 1825 and reconstructed in 1846. It is a destination that should be on every visitor’s to do list and is a quintessential South Florida experience.

If you are with the family, take a shopping break and visit the park to swim, bike, kayak, catch some rays or picnic on more than a mile of sandy Atlantic beachfront, currently ranked #10 on the list of “Top 10 Beaches in America” by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, aka ‘Dr. Beach.’ If fishing is your passion, you can toss in a line from the seawall. Guided tours of the lighthouse and lighthouse keeper´s cottage are given twice a day. There are two restaurants as well as bicycles, beach chairs, and umbrellas for a minimal rental fee.  To continue your retail therapy fix, Toy Town is a stop not to be missed if you have kids or need are a kid at heart. Visit them for books, puzzles, educational toys, arts and crafts and more.
