Myriam Polo: Miami’s Rising Star in Wellness and Coaching

Success begins with how we think, and Myriam Polo helps unlock that potential.
A rising star isn’t just someone who shows promise; it’s someone whose brilliance outshines their years. They are the individuals who, despite their youth, display a maturity and professionalism that signals great things to come. Myriam Polo is one such individual, steadily carving out her path in Miami’s competitive wellness and coaching industry. With an impressive background in occupational therapy and health sciences, combined with her life and health coaching certifications, Myriam has built a reputation as a trusted leader in personal and professional development. At the heart of her work is a passion for helping others unlock their potential, making her a standout figure in Miami’s business community.
What Defines a Rising Star?
A rising star is often defined by their ability to impact others positively while still in the early stages of their career. Myriam embodies this definition perfectly. Despite being young, she brings a depth of knowledge and experience to her work that sets her apart from her peers. Her ability to blend scientific understanding with an empathetic, client-centered approach is rare. She’s not just someone with potential; she’s someone who’s already changing lives. The difference? Myriam has the time, energy, and vision to keep doing so for many years to come.
Myriam’s educational background is just the tip of the iceberg. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Personnel Management, a master’s degree in Health Sciences, and a certification in Health & Life Coaching. But her qualifications are only part of what makes her a rising star. Her passion for promoting mental well-being and personal growth within her community is the true hallmark of her success. She leverages her expertise to guide her clients through the challenges of modern life, helping them achieve balance, resilience, and success in both personal and professional arenas.
The Impact of Coaching in Today’s World
In today’s fast-paced world, coaching is more than just a career—it’s a calling. For Myriam, this calling means helping people navigate the mental and emotional obstacles that often hold them back. Through her work as a health and life coach, she offers clients the tools to shift their mindset, manage stress, and optimize their mental well-being. Her unique approach combines occupational therapy principles with cognitive coaching strategies, giving her clients a holistic perspective on health.
One of Myriam’s greatest strengths is her ability to connect with people. She doesn’t simply advise or coach from a distance; she walks alongside her clients, offering personalized support that’s tailored to their individual needs. In an industry where many professionals focus on quick fixes, Myriam’s long-term, sustainable approach stands out. She empowers her clients to see beyond their current struggles and envision a future where they can thrive, both mentally and emotionally.
The Power of Thought in Success
Myriam’s approach to coaching is rooted in the belief that our thoughts shape our reality. Cognitive coaching is central to her philosophy, and it’s based on the idea that changing the way we think can change the way we live. By helping her clients reframe negative thought patterns, she equips them with the mental tools they need to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. It’s an approach that has proven successful across various sectors, from business professionals looking to enhance their leadership skills to individuals seeking personal fulfillment.
This concept echoes the famous words of Tony Robbins, who said, “The only limit to your impact is your imagination and commitment.” Myriam’s work is a testament to this belief. She helps her clients imagine new possibilities for themselves and then supports them in committing to the actions that will make those possibilities a reality. Just as Robbins emphasizes the power of imagination in driving success, Myriam uses cognitive coaching to unlock that power within each of her clients. She helps them see that their potential is limitless—if they are willing to believe in it.
Like Robbins, Myriam understands that success is not just about talent or resources—it’s about mindset. By focusing on the mental aspects of performance, she empowers her clients to break through the barriers that hold them back and tap into their true capabilities. Her coaching is a blend of science, empathy, and a deep belief in the human capacity for growth. In doing so, she not only helps individuals improve their lives but also contributes to a healthier, more resilient community.

Power Breakfast Highlights at the Greater Kendall Business Association Featuring Healthy Minds Institute

Unlock your potential by changing the way you think. Healthy Minds Institute shows you how.
-Wilson Alvarez
On September 12, 2024, the Greter Kendall Business Association (GKBA) hosted its monthly power breakfast at the Best Western Hotel in West Kendall, Florida. These breakfasts, held every second Thursday, have been a cornerstone of GKBA’s efforts to connect local professionals in an intimate and focused setting. With 20-30 members in attendance, these gatherings emphasize quality over quantity, offering a space for meaningful connections and focused networking. This month’s event was led by Interim President Carlos Ribero, owner at NEXTmedia Digital, whose leadership continues to foster growth and opportunities within the association.
The highlight of the event was the member spotlight, where Healthy Minds Institute (HMI) took center stage. HMI, a dynamic coaching and training organization, is known for its dedication to helping businesses and individuals unlock their full potential. Co-founders Juan Medina Jr. and Myriam Polo shared their journey and the impact of their Cognitive Coaching model on businesses and individuals alike. Their partnership has proven to be a powerful combination of skills, experience, and a shared vision of promoting mental well-being and high performance.
Juan Medina Jr.: A Leader in Cognitive Coaching and Business Development
Juan Medina Jr., a partner at Healthy Minds Institute, brings a wealth of experience as a business and life coach, motivational speaker, and facilitator of cognitive training. With a background that spans various industries, Juan’s work focuses on helping businesses and individuals overcome challenges and reach new heights. Myriam Polo: Promoting Wellness and Optimism in the Community
Myriam Polo, co-founder of HMI, complements Juan’s expertise with her background in occupational therapy and health sciences. With degrees in personnel management and health sciences, Myriam’s approach is deeply rooted in promoting optimism and mental well-being. Her personal experience and academic achievements enable her to guide others in achieving both personal and professional success. Myriam’s dedication to community health is evident in her work at HMI, where she uses her skills to help businesses and individuals overcome mental barriers, develop healthier mindsets, and thrive in challenging environments.
Healthy Minds Institute: Revolutionizing Business and Personal Coaching
Healthy Minds Institute has quickly gained a reputation for its unique approach to training and coaching. Focused on cognitive thinking, HMI empowers clients by helping them optimize their thought patterns, promoting effective communication, and enhancing overall mental health. By targeting core issues such as self-talk, comfort zones, and company culture, HMI introduces long-lasting changes in how businesses operate and how individuals perform. Their mission is simple yet profound: to help people perform at their highest potential by maximizing inner awareness and unlocking their full potential.
The Power of Our Daily Thoughts: A Story from Myriam Polo
During her talk, Myriam Polo shared a powerful message: we have around 6,000 thoughts every day, and astonishingly, 4,800 of them are negative. This startling statistic paints a picture of how much mental energy is often wasted on unproductive, self-defeating thoughts. To bring the point home, Myriam offered a parallel that resonated with the audience: imagine you have $6,000 in your pocket each day, but you waste $4,800 of it on things that don’t matter. You’re left with just $1,200 to spend productively. That’s what many of us do with our mental energy every day—we waste most of it on negativity, leaving only a small portion to focus on the things that truly move us forward.
Think of it this way: your mind is your greatest resource. You wouldn’t allow yourself to spend most of your daily earnings on useless distractions, yet that’s exactly what happens when we let negativity dominate our thoughts. Myriam’s message encourages us to flip the script. Instead of allowing the majority of our mental energy to be consumed by negative thinking, we should aim to redirect those thoughts toward productive, positive actions. Imagine what could happen if you reclaimed just a fraction of those 4,800 negative thoughts and repurposed them for growth, innovation, and progress. The potential is limitless.
This concept parallels a famous quote by Norman Vincent Peale: “Change your thoughts, and you change your world.” Peale’s insight mirrors Myriam’s message about how we invest our mental energy. When we choose to focus on positive, forward-thinking thoughts, we unlock new opportunities for success and fulfillment. Much like managing your finances, managing your thoughts is about making conscious choices. The difference is that the currency of your mind—the way you think—can lead to either productivity or stagnation. Myriam’s story reminds us that our thoughts shape our reality, and we have the power to choose which ones will dominate our day.
The September 2024 WKBA Power Breakfast exemplified the power of quality networking and the impact of meaningful coaching. Myriam Polo’s presentation on how we manage our thoughts serves as a powerful reminder: much like financial resources, mental energy is finite. By focusing on the positive, we can unlock a greater potential within ourselves, allowing us to thrive both personally and professionally. Cognitive coaching, as practiced by HMI, offers businesses a way to boost performance by addressing the mental aspects of work and life, ensuring long-term, sustainable growth.
If you’re looking to elevate your business or personal life through enhanced mental clarity and performance, consider exploring the services offered by Healthy Minds Institute. Their approach to cognitive coaching could be the key to unlocking your true potential. Reach out to HMI today to see how they can help you or your business thrive.

Reviving Connections: Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce

Returning to the Coconut Grove Chamber reminded me of the power of community and connection. This Chamber is a place where professionals can break out of their shells, build meaningful relationships, and grow their businesses. If you’re looking to expand your network in the Grove, this is where you need to be. -Wilson Alvarez
Serving as a board member of the Coconut Grove Chamber from 2012 to 2014, I’ve developed some deep connections within this community. The Chamber has been the backbone of business in Coconut Grove, organizing essential events like Luncheons, Educational Seminars, and the renowned Coconut Grove Arts Festival, which attract people from all over Miami. My time with the Chamber was both fun and enriching, opening doors I hadn’t expected. However, like many organizations, the Chamber faced significant challenges during the COVID years. Memberships dwindled, and the once-thriving Chamber activity slowed down. Despite these hurdles, the Coconut Grove Chamber persevered, thanks to the dedication of both current and former board members who worked tirelessly to keep it alive. Recently, I received an invitation to a Thursday evening after-business-hours event hosted by the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce. Held at Industrious, a shared office space in the heart of Coconut Grove, the event was a testament to what makes this community special. With around 30 business professionals in attendance, I initially felt a bit out of place, recognizing only a few faces. Although I usually find it easy to approach people and start conversations, there’s always that initial challenge of breaking the ice in a room full of strangers. But once I got started, it didn’t take long for me to connect with others and feel at ease. Breaking the Ice One of the first familiar faces I saw was Sue McConnell, a longtime board member of the Chamber. Catching up with her was a comforting way to ease back into the Chamber environment. Sue has been a pillar in the Coconut Grove business community for years, and her longevity has made her a respected voice within the Chamber. As we talked, I saw a familiar face, Marianela Toledo, the Better Business Bureau South Florida liaison and Engagement Specialist. Marianela’s passion for helping businesses navigate the complexities of accreditation and consumer trust is truly inspiring. Her work with the BBB is a testament to the kind of relationships that Chambers foster—ones that go beyond business and into the realm of genuine community support. Another familiar face was a client, Carl Levin, an architect and the president of Mango Strut, a whimsical event that takes place every January in the Grove. Carl’s energy and enthusiasm for the community were contagious, and as I continued to mingle, the initial unease I felt began to melt away. It brought to mind a quote by Dale Carnegie: “You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” This resonates with my experience at the event—starting out feeling like an outsider, but finding that once I genuinely engaged with others, the connections came naturally. It’s about being present, showing interest, and letting the conversation flow. The Power of Networking The evening took an even more interesting turn when Monty Trainer, a Chamber Emeritus whom I affectionately refer to as the “Governor of Coconut Grove,” approached me. Monty is a highly respected figure in the community, and his acknowledgment, along with an update on the Chamber’s status, was both surprising and reassuring. He introduced me to Mark Burns, the Executive Director of the Coconut Grove BID, and we had a fascinating conversation about the ongoing initiatives that are revitalizing the area. I also had the pleasure of meeting VenusMia Lovely, the Administrative Director of the BID, who is brimming with innovative ideas for community involvement. One of the more unexpected connections I made was with a realtor visiting from Aventura, who is looking to expand her business into Coconut Grove and Coral Gables. Despite her base in Aventura, she’s eager to make a name for herself in the Grove. I encouraged her to join the Chamber, emphasizing that, just like she met me, she would meet many others who could help her grow her network in this vibrant area. The Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce is more than just an organization; it’s a community where people come together to support one another’s growth. Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert, the Chamber offers opportunities to connect, learn, and expand your horizons. This recent event was a reminder that stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to meaningful connections and opportunities. If you’re looking to expand your network within Coconut Grove, grow your business, or simply become more involved in the Grove, consider joining the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce. It’s a place where business meets community, and where you’ll find the support you need to succeed. Contact me at walvarez@miamibusiness.com for more information.
