SECOND LOCATION IN AVENTURA MALL ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 1
MIAMI, FL (July 7, 2015) – Bunnie Cakes, Miami’s first-ever vegan, gluten-free and kosher bakery, is bringing its famously delicious sweet treats to an entirely new audience: shoppers at the Aventura Mall. The popular brand’s second location is set to open in the retail paradise on Saturday, August 1, 2015.
From Cupcake Wars to the city’s “Best Of” awards, Bunnie Cakes bakery has earned an outstanding reputation since its Wynwood location opened more than two years ago. Now, owner Mariana Cortez is taking the first step towards expanding the beloved brand.
“We love Aventura,” says Cortez. “Bunnie Cakes has a lot of customers there who’ve been asking us to open a store. We’d been looking for a long time and were thrilled when the perfect spot became available. We’re so excited!” On opening day, guests to the Aventura location can expect balloons, friendly greetings and a free
cupcake with every purchase from 2 to 6 p.m.
Like the Wynwood store, the Aventura spot’s décor will feature an array of hearts, vibrant colors and warm, welcoming décor—hand-picked by Cortez—in keeping with the Bunnie Cakes motto: “Our heart with every cupcake.”
The new store will stock large and mini cupcakes, donuts, whoopee pies, cookies, brownies, small cakes and cakes in a jar, plus beverages including coffee, tea, water and natural sodas. With tables and chairs for customers, it’s the perfect spot for shoppers in need of a sweet treat. The new location is also directly across from Aventura Mall’s Friends With You playground, providing easy access for families.
Family is a subject near and dear to Cortez’s heart. Bunnie Cakes was created when the then-mother-of-three (now, four) couldn’t find a vegan cake for her son Luke’s birthday. She started whipping up delicious, allergy-friendly treats at home, and Bunnie Cakes was born.
Make no mistake, however, Bunnie Cakes are not only for those with dietary restrictions. Florian Bellanger, celebrity pastry chef and Cupcake Wars judge, called Cortez’s creations, “the best and most elegant cupcakes we have seen on the show.”
Bunnie Cakes are currently sold at the first storefront location in Midtown, as well as Green Gables Cafe, Juice and Java, Panther Coffee, Temple Kitchen, Apple A Day, Guarapo Juice Bar, the Honey Tree, Milam’s Markets in Coral Gables and Coconut Grove, and Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakim.

When your body fails to cooperate, the world seems much smaller, doesn’t it? I’ve been wracked with bronchitis for more than a week and it’s frustrating to find myself restricted to bed and home.
A friend advised me to consider what “signals” my illness is sending me about life in general. I confess never to thinking that way before. For an ironic change, I could honestly report I had not been overworking, had been exercising and walking, eating right, all the supposedly correct in-balance things. Even took Mother’s Day weekend off to go to the beach with my dear daughter. Nonetheless, I still caught something pretty strong.
In this spirit, here’s my question to ask yourself:  What “signals” are you getting about how you are interacting with the important people in your work world?  Would you say that most of your conversations are rewarding and productive? Or, do you find you’re dealing with constant “turf wars,” missed deadlines, complaints, lack of motivation, and underperforming co-workers?
