Ernesto Martinez Jr. – Hulk Hogan’s Final Lesson: Why Estate Planning Matters Now More Than Ever

Hulk Hogan’s Final Lesson: Why Estate Planning Matters Now More Than Ever

The world was shocked by the passing of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan—born Terry Gene Bollea—on July 24, 2025, at the age of 71. Known for his larger-than-life persona, championship wins, and iconic mustache, Hogan was more than just a wrestling superstar. He was a household name, a pop culture icon, and a business mogul with an estate valued at an estimated $25 million. But beyond the headlines and tributes lies a critical reminder for all of us: estate planning isn’t just for the rich and famous—it’s for everyone.
He Was Somewhat Prepared—Are You?
While not all the details are public, reports confirm that Hulk Hogan had a revocable living trust and personal estate planning documents in place. His planning appears to have included asset protection, spousal provisions, and intentional decisions regarding family. As a result, a large portion of his estate may avoid the public and costly probate process—something many families aren’t prepared for.
Even with preparation, Florida probate law still plays a role. For example, regardless of what his will or trust may say, Florida law grants surviving spouses like Sky Daily Hogan a 30% elective share of the estate. That means legal safeguards, combined with proper documentation, are essential to ensure the estate is handled as intended.
Why Brooke Hogan Was Removed from the Will
One of the most surprising revelations came from news that Hogan’s daughter, Brooke, was removed from his will in 2023. While no official explanation has been given, Brooke has been largely estranged from her father in recent years, and her absence from family milestones has been widely noted.
Removing an heir from a will is a delicate legal matter. In Florida, if not handled properly, it can lead to will contests or probate litigation. Hogan’s situation demonstrates that even challenging family dynamics can be addressed if the proper planning steps are taken with the assistance of an attorney.
Hulk’s Millions—and a Potential Family Feud
The financial value of Hulk Hogan’s estate is estimated at $25 million, including income from branding, royalties, real estate, and licensing deals. His recent marriage to Sky Daily in 2023 further complicates the situation. According to Florida’s elective share statute (§732.201), Sky is legally entitled to at least 30% of the estate, even if she’s not listed as a beneficiary in the will or trust.
This provision could lead to tension among family members—especially those excluded or given smaller shares. These types of disputes often play out in probate court, unless airtight legal documents are in place to manage expectations and follow state law.
Estate Planning: With It or Without It
Hulk Hogan’s case offers us a chance to reflect on two outcomes:
When estate planning is done right:

Most assets are transferred privately through trusts.

Court involvement is minimal.

Family members have clarity and guidance.

Probate is avoided or limited.

When there is no plan:

The estate enters full probate.

Court fees and delays arise.

Family disputes become more likely.

Public access to assets and conflicts increases.

Final Takeaway: Don’t Wait for Tomorrow
Hulk Hogan may have been prepared—but even his plan is being tested by Florida’s probate laws and complex family dynamics. The real question is: Are you prepared? Do your loved ones know your wishes? Have you taken the time to ensure your estate plan is legal, updated, and designed to protect your legacy?

The Stellar Journey of the 1967 Ford Galaxie

The Stellar Journey of the 1967 Ford Galaxie
The world of vintage cars is vast and captivating. Among the myriad of classic cars that have graced our roads, the 1967 Ford Galaxie stands out as an iconic piece of automotive history. Let’s delve into the history, discover the logic behind its name, and understand its unique engine placement.
1. A Journey Through Time: The History of the Ford Galaxie
The Ford Galaxie began its journey in 1959. It was conceived as Ford’s answer to the Chevrolet Impala, another full-size car which was gaining immense popularity at that time. The Galaxie was not just another car on the road; it was an embodiment of the era’s fascination with the Space Age. This was a time when humanity was looking towards the stars with new hope and ambition, and Ford wanted a car that captured that essence.
2. Behind the Name: Why ‘Galaxie’?
Ford has a history of intriguing car names, and the Galaxie was no exception. The name “Galaxie” was derived from the word “galaxy”, which refers to a massive system of stars, stellar remnants, interstellar gas, dust, and dark matter. With the Space Race in full swing during the late 1950s and 1960s, the name was apt, resonating with the zeitgeist of the time. The intentional misspelling (dropping the ‘y’ for ‘ie’) gave it a unique identity while still preserving its space-themed essence.
3. Under the Hood: Engine Placement
The 1967 Ford Galaxie, like its predecessors, was a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive vehicle. This was standard for most cars at that time. The car could be equipped with a range of engines, from the economical 240 cubic inch six-cylinder to the powerful 390 cubic inch V8. The placement of the engine allowed for better weight distribution, ensuring that the Galaxie was not just a good-looking car, but also one that provided a comfortable and balanced ride.
4. Legacy in Numbers: Production and Longevity
The Ford Galaxie was produced from 1959 to 1974. Over these years, various models and modifications were introduced, adapting to the changing tastes and demands of the automotive market. For the 1967 model year specifically, the Galaxie underwent a redesign, making it sleeker and more aerodynamic. Though the exact number of 1967 Galaxies produced is not universally agreed upon, estimates suggest that there were several tens of thousands made, reflecting its popularity.
In Conclusion
The 1967 Ford Galaxie is more than just a car. It’s a symbol of an era when the skies were the limit and technology was rapidly advancing. From its space-inspired name to its sleek design and powerful engine, it embodies the spirit of the 1960s. If you ever get the chance to see one or, better yet, drive one, take a moment to appreciate the history and craftsmanship behind this classic American automobile.

The Power of Stepping Away

The Power of Stepping Away: A Lesson from Carlos Garrido

Carlos Garrido, Managing Partner of Sandler in Miami, recently shared a profoundly vulnerable and insightful reflection on LinkedIn—a post that stopped me mid-scroll and stayed with me all day. In a world that idolizes hustle, Carlos had the courage to step back—and that, paradoxically, may have been his greatest move forward.

“Taking a month off is the smartest business decision I’ve made all year,” he writes, confessing that he’s “terrible at taking time off.” And yet here he is, three weeks into a month-long sabbatical in Spain with his family—no work calls, no client meetings, no strategies—just presence.

Carlos, a true high performer in every sense, admits to the same mental traps many of us fall into. The fear that rest is regression. That disconnection is defeat. That productivity is measured in meetings, notifications, and inbox zero. But his story is a masterclass in what every business coach knows deep down: true growth happens in the pause.
He describes walks with his wife, morning runs with his son, and meaningful conversations with his daughters—moments of connection that remind us why we do any of this in the first place. But it goes deeper. Carlos reveals a hard truth: many high achievers are addicted to being needed. We conflate being busy with being indispensable, and that mindset quietly builds a cage.
Then comes the breakthrough: solutions emerge when the noise quiets. Creativity flows when we unplug. And the business? It keeps growing. That’s sustainability. That’s leadership.
A Timeless Parallel: Churchill’s Walk in the Woods
This wisdom from Carlos echoes the approach of Winston Churchill, who during the peak of World War II often escaped to his garden or studio to paint. Critics saw it as reckless. But Churchill knew better: “To each, nature bestows some means of relaxation and renewal. Mine is painting.” These pauses weren’t indulgences—they were essential. They allowed him to return to leadership with renewed clarity.
Carlos’ time in Spain is his version of Churchill’s walk in the woods. And just like the wartime leader, Carlos returns to his business sharper, more visionary, and less burdened by false urgency.
Takeaway: Rest is a Business Strategy
In coaching, we emphasize sustainable success, not burnout disguised as performance. Carlos’ journey is a bold reminder that strategic rest is a power move, not a sign of weakness. The best test of a strong business is whether it can grow in your absence.
We must ask ourselves: Are we building businesses that serve us, or ones that demand our constant sacrifice?
If you’re leading a team, managing a company, or even just managing yourself—take a page from Carlos’ playbook. Disconnect. Reconnect. Reflect. You may just unlock the most powerful version of your leadership yet.

Thank You, Carlos
Carlos, thank you for sharing this moment so openly. Your willingness to step away has sparked not just your own clarity—but the creativity of many others, including myself. This blog would not exist without your courageous example. May your journey in Spain continue to be one of inspiration, and may more of us follow your lead by pausing to breathe, reflect, and return stronger.

Domestic Violence Charges: What You Should Know Before Court
“A courtroom isn’t the place to figure things out—it’s where your defense should already be in motion.”
— Carolle El-Naffy, Esq.
Facing domestic violence charges in Florida isn’t just a legal issue—it’s an emotional and life-altering one. These charges can impact your reputation, your freedom, and your future. That’s why you need to understand your rights and the court process before your first hearing.
Let’s walk through the basics of Florida domestic violence law and how attorney Carolle El-Naffy can help you face these charges with clarity and confidence.

What Counts as Domestic Violence in Florida?
Domestic violence includes more than physical abuse. Under Florida law, it covers:

Assault or battery

Stalking or harassment

Sexual assault or abuse

False imprisonment or kidnapping

Any offense that results in physical injury or death to a family or household member

Family or household members include spouses, former spouses, people who live together, or individuals who share a child.

Common Misconceptions That Can Hurt You
Many people facing domestic violence charges in Florida make costly assumptions, such as:
“She dropped the charges, so it’s over.”The state of Florida can prosecute without the alleged victim’s cooperation.
“I’ll just explain myself in court.”You could unintentionally incriminate yourself. A skilled defense attorney is essential.
“There was no physical contact.”Threats, blocking an exit, or damaging property may still be considered domestic violence.

What Happens After the Arrest?
Upon arrest, courts often issue a no-contact order, which may mean:

No calls, texts, or DMs

No returning to your home

No contact through friends or family

Violating this order can result in additional criminal charges, even if the other person contacts you first.

What Can You Expect in Court?
Domestic violence hearings in Florida can result in:

Temporary or permanent restraining orders

Restrictions on parenting time

Pretrial supervision (ankle monitors, counseling, drug tests)

A lasting criminal record

These consequences can follow you for years. Attorney Carolle El-Naffy builds a defense strategy that protects not just your legal standing but your personal life too.
