Keeping Your Employees Happy

No matter how successful you are, chances are there is a team that stands behind you that helped lift you to your highest goals. Often times that team are your employees. Creating a comfortable work environment can help your employees to be more productive and encourage them to stay with your company longer.
Research has proven that the brain is stimulated by music, whether it is classical, pop, dance or any other genre. Many companies found that streaming music in the office was well appreciated by their employees. However, there is a downside. The streaming of music actually slows down the bandwidth and download speeds. While this may seem like a minor issue to some employers, it actually can interfere with productivity. Slower speeds means documents and important information is downloaded at a slower rate, therefore slowing down your employee’s ability to get tasks completed at a faster pace.
Once most companies understand that streaming music is affecting bandwidth and download speeds, they create a rule that stops employees from streaming music during business hours. Instead they opt to provide music via a stereo and speaker system that remains on one setting and plays specific music that motivates and encourages energy levels to be maintained at a good rate to keep spirits high in the office.
There are other ways you can keep your employees happy and still keep productivity levels at a good level. The following tips will guide you on your journey to creating a healthy, productive environment for your employees.

Keep Your Team Informed – One of the main topics that comes up when employees are asked what causes the most stress at work is the lack of information given by their employer. You may discuss the details and delegate the responsibility of a large project to your employees, but if they don’t know what the end result their striving to reach, it causes lack of enthusiasm and even confusion. Share the big picture and keep your team informed about work related projects that they are directly involved with.
Have Fun – There are times when everyone just needs to breathe. Choose to introduce casual Fridays, or switch it up and make it casual Mondays. Provide breakfast or lunch once a month for your employees to make them feel appreciated. Some companies choose to do a variety of things to improve team moral. Create a small team to come up with ideas that will benefit the moral of the office and actually do them!

If you are at a loss for how to keep your employees happy, ask them. You don’t have to have a big meeting and feel overwhelmed. Just simply provide a comment box in an easy to access area and send a mass email out to employees asking them their thoughts on how you can make them happier. Ask them to anonymously provide their answers by placing their thoughts on a piece of paper and dropping it in the comment box. Remember that insisting on anonymous answers provides the most truthful answers. Create a work environment where you employees are happy to arrive to work every day and you will find your productivity and success rate will rise.

Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you

By Armando Trabanco, Banking Executive.
As leaders we are always looking for ways to be more effective and efficient.  We read the latest articles, attend the latest seminars and our companies latest management training programs. We hear about how important it is to lead and motivate our associates, and are usually given the program/script to help motivate our Teams.
In addition to this our company provide us with performance metrics, leader boards and guidelines to help in this endeavor.  To that we add our style and hope for the best, believing all our bases are covered.  We up the ante with a personal incentive, maybe even lunch with the boss. (Golden Rule.) Meanwhile our associates are trying to perform their roles to the best of there ability and depend on our guidance to increase production and performance. When we have folks that aren’t responding to the “Established- Motivators”, we proceed to retrain them and clarify the benefits of our program and processes. While some may respond, most will not because they have no direct engagement with the process.
Platinum Rule: Do unto others, as they want done unto them.
What we really should be doing is getting to know our associates as individuals. What are their strengths, areas for improvement, goals and aspirations? Why not tailor a career path for each of them?  Knowing where they want to go, and helping them chart a course towards that goal.  This type of personal career path will demonstrate the value they have to the organization and allow them to be in control of their professional future.  These simple steps allow them to feel invested in the process, and own the established goals and metrics, usually working harder knowing that they are also on track to achieve their personal goals,.
Although as a manager there are no fool proof answers, when people feel empowered, appreciated and considered, most of the time they will perform at exceptional levels.

Passion: The main ingredient in living a successful life

By Armando Trabanco, Banking Executive.
Looking around at the great successes of our time, we find one common ingredient –Passion.  Passion is not just the driver of their endeavor, but the fuel that moves the soul.
Unfortunately, we live in a society the measures success in dollars and cents, but fails to understand that success is the fulfillment of ones purpose on earth.  As a Banker I have had the privilege of meeting many financially successful individuals, however not all had succeeded in fulfilling their life’s purpose. If you look around they’re easy to spot. They have the latest car, eat at the best restaurants and are scheduled to attend the next big event, yet never seem happy. Most of the time they fail to acknowledge the simple beauty in nature, the blessing of friends and family and rather than looking for the good in people and situations, always seem to find the negatives. As I always say, “They’re the folks that if they won the lottery, would worry about the taxes they’d have to pay”.
Think of the individuals who have made the greatest contributions to our society, they were all passionate about their work.  From Michael Angelo to Davinci,  from Fred Smith (Fed Ex founder) to Bill Gates and Steve Jobs- each worked passionately towards a goal.  Each made a commitment to focus on making a difference, with no guarantees they’d succeed financially, yet they persevered day in and day out. What about you? What would you do, if you knew you wouldn’t fail?
This is not a call to drop your responsibilities and pursue a dream, but rather a call to analyze what you do daily, understand what you enjoy about it, and then committing yourself to doing it better than anyone else – Passionately.   Regardless of your financial situation, if you become the best at anything, people will be glad to pay for that level of commitment. We are living in a society where complacency and mediocrity has become the norm, so when you excel and stand out people will compensate you handsomely.  Make the choice, and create a successful life by living passionately.
“If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion.  For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.”  Bishop T.D. Jakes

Commitment: The difference between ordinary and extraordinary results

How Commitment Builds High-Performing Teams
By Armando Trabanco, Banking Executive

Commitment drives team success by strengthening consistency, improving morale, and helping teams perform effectively under pressure.

Introduction
Commitment drives team success by shaping how individuals perform, collaborate, and respond to challenges. Many organizations hire based on skills, education, and experience, yet still struggle to achieve consistent results.
Leaders often invest in training programs and incentives, expecting improvement. However, performance gaps remain because technical ability alone is not enough—commitment determines execution.

Why Commitment Matters More Than Skill
Skills define what employees can do, but commitment determines what they actually deliver.
Employees who stay committed:

Remain focused during challenges
Take ownership of outcomes
Perform consistently over time

This difference explains why some highly skilled teams fail to meet expectations while others succeed with fewer resources.

How Leadership Influences Team Performance
Leadership sets the tone for commitment. A positive environment encourages accountability, while negative attitudes reduce motivation.
Strong leaders:

Build trust within teams
Communicate clear expectations
Encourage growth and responsibility

When leadership creates the right culture, teams naturally improve performance and engagement.

Hiring for Commitment and Culture Fit
Commitment cannot be taught, but it can be identified during the hiring process.
Look for candidates who show:

Enthusiasm for their role
Resilience in difficult situations
Accountability for past actions
A growth-oriented mindset

These traits signal long-term value and help create stronger teams.

The Long-Term Impact of Commitment
Commitment strengthens teams over time. It improves communication, builds trust, and increases productivity.
Teams that rely only on skill often struggle with inconsistency. In contrast, committed teams adapt quickly and maintain performance under pressure.
Research from:👉 https://www.gallup.com/workplace/236441/employee-engagement-drives-growth.aspxshows that engaged and committed employees significantly improve business outcomes.

Final Thoughts
Skill creates opportunity, but commitment sustains success.
Organizations that focus on building committed teams gain a long-term advantage through consistency, resilience, and stronger collaboration.
