Technically, yes, we’re still giving you rosé. But this isn’t the anonymous pale pink bottle you’ve seen at every beach club for the past decade.
Robert Sinskey makes its Vin Gris from organically farmed Pinot Noir, whole-cluster pressing the fruit before fermentation. The result is bright and refreshing, but with enough personality that it feels like an actual wine rather than something chosen because the bottle looked cute on the table.
Fish tacos, oysters, Thai food, grilled vegetables, burgers. It’s the kind of rosé that can hang around once dinner actually arrives.

For When the White Wine Needs to Be the Flex

Not every summer white needs to be the bottle you casually toss into a cooler.
Staglin’s Estate Chardonnay comes from the family’s Rutherford vineyard in Napa Valley and is the kind of bottle you open when dinner is actually an occasion. The 2022 brings lemon zest, orange blossom and grapefruit together with minerality, subtle oak and enough acidity to keep all that richness from feeling heavy.
At $185, we’re obviously playing in a different category here. This is the white for the big dinner, the summer birthday, the weekend at a very nice hotel or when someone else says they’re picking up the check.
Plus, there’s something particularly fun about spending Cabernet money on Chardonnay.

For the Summer Night That Calls for Red

Summer doesn’t mean we stop eating steak.
Bloodlines is one of Orin Swift’s newest releases, a 2024 California Cabernet Sauvignon with pluot, boysenberry, blackcurrant and blackberry alongside black pepper, leather and lavender.
And yes, we’re recommending Cabernet in July. Red wine doesn’t suddenly become illegal when the temperature hits 90. Serve it a little cooler than room temperature and put it next to steak, burgers or something smoky coming off the grill.
The inaugural release was priced at $40.
This is not your 2 p.m. pool wine. It’s your 9:30 p.m. dinner wine.

For When Dinner Is the Event

There are casual summer nights and then there are nights when somebody actually made a reservation.
Caymus has been making Napa Valley Cabernet for decades, developing a recognizable style built around dark fruit, richness and ripe, velvety tannins. It’s also one of those bottles even the less wine-obsessed person at the table is likely to recognize.
At around $80 a bottle, this is obviously not the wine we’re tossing into a beach cooler. It’s the one for a steak dinner, an anniversary, a birthday or simply the night when everyone collectively decides they’re not going home early.
And Cabernet in Miami summer makes more sense than it sounds. Most of us are eating dinner indoors in air conditioning cold enough to require a jacket anyway.
