Selfies are allowed at Whitney Museum | Page Six

The Whitney Museum’s director, Adam Weinberg, is cool with you taking selfies in front of the art on display.
“I think a lot of people’s instinct is to photograph what’s there often before they even [look at it closely],” he said during a Q&A at the Miami Beach Edition. “I think that’s OK. I think every generation has a different way of doing it.”
Weinberg added, “If people are photographing or doing other things in the gallery, I think it’s absolutely fine, because museums shouldn’t be necessarily cloisters that are separated.”
He said of the Whitney’s new Renzo Piano-designed home at the High Line, “There are wonderful cloister-like museums, but the Whitney Museum is about the present.”

How to silence the gods? An operatic masterpiece by Verdi | World news | The Guardian

Alexander Pereira, La Scala’s new general manager, is confident that a rarely seen major work by Verdi will silence his traditionalist critics
The general manager of La Scala has said he is confident that a rarely seen operatic masterpiece by Verdi can silence the hecklers he has sought to banish, as the world’s most famous opera house readies for its celebrated gala, the first night of the season.
Before taking the reins at the Milan theatre last year, Alexander Pereira did not hold back in his disdain for the so-called loggionisti, whose traditionalist scruples and booing have seen a string of performers vow to never return.
“I have at my [disposal] the best [singers] but many do not want to perform on the stage at La Scala because they are intimidated, if not frightened to death,” he lamented. “We can no longer allow this.”
Having completed his first – successful – season at La Scala, Pereira has said he will not be put off by the merciless traditionalists who often make their voices heard from the gods on the first night of big productions, such as Monday night’s upcoming performance of Verdi’s Joan of Arc (Giovanna d’Arco).
“You are always concerned that it might happen, but the concern doesn’t hold you back from doing what you think is right,” he told the Guardian. “I think this is an interesting production and I think it is an important contribution by La Scala to a major work by Verdi which is practically never done.”

Holiday Detox

Thanksgiving is over and it’s time to REBOOT for the holidays! For most adults this means cleansing your previous eating & drinking indulges & recharging your body & mind with fresh food and beverages to tackle the upcoming holiday season.

In order to maintain your nutritional balance aka sanity of the holiday shopping, parties, family & work obligations, TAKE CHARGE of your diet and health with a healthy dietary detox. What this means to you is finding the best, local, organic market, restaurant or meal delivery service which offers a calorie-controlled program to jump start your personal best physique!
Getting Started
There are plenty of DETOX programs available in the 305, several new pop-up programs I will review in my #WelcomeToMiami Fitness blog in upcoming weeks that I discovered at the recent SEED Conscious Plant-Based Food & Wine Festival in Wynwood.
Regardless of your choice, suffice to say, the best way to DETOX to regain control, clarity, physical purity and renewal is to eat the right combinations of food & beverages for YOU—to keep calorie burn aka metabolism & energy levels high, lean muscle toned and overall health intact! Sounds logical, but most programs typically under fuel, poorly fuel or over fuel overzealous dieters with liquid sugar, albeit “natural” fruit sugars leaving “drinkers” heads spinning, faintish, guts hungry and workouts cut short.
Since DETOX programs often drastically change your calorie, nutrient & daily eating habits, the best place to start is with a medical checkup & a personalized program supervised by an integrative holistic medical doctor and licensed nutrition expert (LD/N.) Dr. Suzel Vazquez, MD Integrative Internist located in SoMia in the medical offices conveniently located above Whole Foods Market offers a 1 month medically supervised, nutritionally coached program which includes a meal plan PLUS supplemental shakes, probiotics and vitamins.
Healthy DETOX Strategies:

Find out your minimal calorie needs called BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate, the minimum amount of calories you need before you start breaking down the body, muscle, and organs just to live and don’t eat less than that! You can easily lose weight FAST by following your BMR & exercising.

Download the mobile app cTHRUNutrition at Apple or Android store FREE, your “Pocket Nutritionist” to get a quick BMR calculation, find foods and beverages that meet your personal dietary preferences & speak to your own personal nutritionist when you have questions.

Commit to a 1 month period to follow the DETOX food program & scientifically formulated schedule of juices or shakes. Start TODAY if you want to get a head start on your 2016 resolution!

Think beyond the DETOX. Consider your long term goals: Weight loss? More energy? Optimal health? Prepare for Miami Marathon? You can use this time as a head start on your New Year’s Resolution by working on eating, drinking & lifestyle habits that hold you back from being your personal best all year long—

Remove YOUR personal toxins whether it is too much alcohol, sugar, fat, processed foods or even diet soda; inconsistent exercise or poor sleep habits. Get rid of foods with added colors, chemicals, unhealthy fats; packaged junk or fried foods and snacks. Wouldn’t it be great to feel great & be your best for the long run in 2016!

Infuse KEY Nutrients, vitamins and minerals, nutrients like omega 3s and fiber YOU’RE missing in your daily diet. Have your diet, body comp and blood evaluated by a nutrition expert and replace deficient macros & micros via the DETOX formula, meal plan or supplemental sources DESIGNED for YOU whether from whole foods or beverages and/or supplements AS necessary to promote & protect your body during the detoxification process, holidays and beyond.

Thanks to the #SEEDFoodandWine festival here are the names of some of the DETOX programs available, all I will review in the upcoming weeks. #PlantTheory #DirtEatClean #MannaLifeFood #JoyfulJuicing #temple_kitchen

Ernie Kovacs, Edie Adams Archives Acquired by Library of Congress – Hollywood Reporter

The Library of Congress, in its latest step to preserve the work of great entertainers, has acquired a collection of kinescopes, videotapes and home movies featuring comedian Ernie Kovacs and his wife, singer-actress Edie Adams, it was announced Thursday.

The library purchased the comprehensive collection, which includes more than 1,200 audiovisual items, from Josh Mills, the president of Ediad Productions and Adams’ son. The price was not disclosed.
Kovacs was renowned for his innovative, surrealistic and out-of-the-box television comedy, while Adams had a successful career on the big and small screen and on Broadway and was memorable in a series of sultry cigar commercials (“Why don’t you pick one up and smoke it sometime?”). They often worked together.
Kovacs, 42, died on Jan. 13, 1962, in a car crash on Santa Monica Boulevard on his way home from a party in Beverly Hills. Adams, 81, died of cancer on Oct. 15, 2008.
